Twenty or so years ago, these Easter baskets were a popular project. Today, their simple charm can still bring a smile to anyone’s face. Try making the baskets all different sizes and fill them with anything festive. Or make a creative display by filling a bowl with several smaller “eggs” made of different colors.
Supplies
• Balloon (any size)
• Crochet thread
• Gathered lace
• Ribbon (optional)
• Glue gun
• ½ cup sugar
• ½ cup water
Instructions
1. Blow up balloon to desired size.
2. Combine sugar and water in small saucepan. Boil until thickened. Reduce heat to keep mixture warm but not boiling.
3. Dip crochet thread in mixture and wrap around balloon.
4. Let dry (overnight is best).
5. Pop balloon. Cut an opening in basket and remove balloon. For stability, gently press basket down on a smooth surface.
6. Glue lace around opening.
7. Attach bow made of ribbon on top (optional).
8. Fill with Easter treats.
