Signature Productions proudly presents the Steven Sondheim musical “Into the Woods.” The story looks at the world through the eyes of the most famous fairytale characters, and they all learn valuable life lessons.

The baker and his wife cannot have a child. So they strike a deal with the witch next door. She will help them have a child if they will help her restore her beauty. The witch tells the baker and his wife to get a cow as white as milk, the cape as red as blood, the hair as yellow as corn, and the slipper as pure as gold. Fortunately, their neighbors are Jack (with his beanstalk), Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Cinderella!

The baker and his wife beg, borrow, steal, wheel & deal to get what they need for their “happily ever after.” They learn, as do the other characters, that their choices may come back to haunt them. The underlying message of the story is that every choice has a consequence. So be careful about the choices you make, and teach your children to make good choices.

This delightful and fun musical is directed by Philip Shelburne, who also has directed many plays at the Spring Mountain Ranch. Shauna Oblad is the musical director, and Nancy Andersen is the vocal director.

“Into the Woods” will be performed at the Summerlin Performing Arts Center, 1771 Inner Circle Drive, from March 24th to April 22nd. Ticket prices range from $15-$22. Call 702-878-PLAY for tickets. “Into the Woods” is great family entertainment for everyone over the age of 4.
