Someone once observed, “If you gain one pound a year after you’re married, by the time you’ve been married 50 years, you’ll have gained 50 pounds.”
When I married, my husband and I agreed that after the birth of each child, I had to regain my pre-pregnancy weight before I could get pregnant again. This plan worked well for my first four children. And then we moved to Germany.

I don’t know how they did it. My parents made raising us kids looks so easy. I feel it was a bit deceptive. We kids, or us kids, whatever, would be playing out back and then my mom would call us in for dinner and POOF it was ready. We’d come home from school and POOF Christmas decorations were up. We’d ask our parents to make some POOF and POOF the POOF was there!

Why are we counseled to eat “in the season thereof”?
It’s probably easier on the budget, but as we continue to learn about food, we are learning why, for instance, we should eat strawberries in the spring rather than in January. Strawberries ripen in the spring and they also happen to be a natural blood thinner and a perfect food to prepare the body for warmer weather.
