Lightstone Studios has just released the sixth title in its popular Liken the Scriptures series of DVDs.
Called “Esther and the King,” the live-action musical portrays the biblical story as seen from the imagination of a modern-day child. “Our hope with this series is that children will learn that they can apply scripture stories to the challenges they face today,” said Las Vegas resident Craig Brooksby, executive producer at Lightstone. “We’re delighted when we hear from parents who tell us that they were not only able to enjoy the movies with their children, but they were able to follow it up with meaningful gospel discussions.”
The first title in the series, “Nephi and Laban,” was released in November 2003. It was nearly a year before the next title, “Ammon and Lamoni” was released. Since then, the company has picked up the pace considerably, releasing three titles in 2005: “David and Goliath” (featuring Thurl Bailey as Goliath), “Alma and King Noah’s Court,” and “The First Christmas.”
The company is now in production on “Daniel and the Lions” and “Samuel and the Nephites,” both of which will be released later this year.
