Letter From The Editor

Caring for others, the focus of this issue of Desert Saints Magazine, goes to the very heart of membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Indeed, it is the heart of all Christianity. The idea and the practice of looking out for others’ needs as we all walk through this road of life are a comfort and a blessing.

The very act of looking outside ourselves can bring renewed perspective and peace. When we walk a mile in someone else’s shoes and do what we can to ease their burdens, we are changed in wonderful ways. Most often, participants in loving service find that they feel more blessed than the recipient of their good deed.

When these gifts of self are given freely and lovingly, hearts and lives are changed. We not only give loving service, it becomes something we love to give.

What a great blessing at this ‘thankful’ time of year!
