When we want to speak to God, we pray. And when we want Him to speak to us, we search the scriptures.” Such are the words of Elder Robert D. Hales in the 2006 October General Conference. How easy is it to hear Him speaking directly to us? In The Liahona Principle, author Bradley R. Wilde says it is easier than you might think.
Wilde says that the scriptures should be used as a Liahona to find direction and understanding in our lives. He says that it is just as easy for us to look in our Liahona of the scriptures and find answers, as it was for Lehi and Nephi to look in the compass they had been given. If we have questions or problems, we should open the scriptures with that question or problem in mind, and invariably an answer will be found, wherever we might turn.
Many of us have had a verse of scripture touch our heart, and bring peace to our soul, or an answer to our mind. In The Liahona Principle, Wilde explains a simple way to purposefully do this, and describes the powerful life-changing results accompanying this process. He uses numerous heart-felt examples of members finding the direction they need by simply opening their scriptures. Whether a person is dealing with something as difficult as a major trauma in life, or as simple as what to teach in a lesson, he says the first thing we should do is consult our Liahona. The more frequently we do this, the more answers we receive, and the more we recognize God directing our lives.
The Liahona Principle is for those who seek to have more direction from God’s guiding hand. It is for those who wish they had been given a Liahona to guide and direct them in their journey in life.
