What happens when the dream of two best friends comes to life with wonderful food and individually themed cabins on a bluff overlooking a quaint valley in southern Nevada? A little piece of heaven in Alamo called the Windmill Ridge Restaurant and Lodging.

Kim Turley and Kris Higbee have been friends since high school. In fact, their grandmothers were friends. So maybe it was destiny that they became best friends and business partners. In August 2006, Windmill Ridge was born.
Even though the restaurant boasts a country atmosphere, don’t expect a country bumpkin menu. Pages of fantastic menu choices are complimented by generous portions. My advice is to order a steak, then email and thank me – rusty@desertsaintsmagazine.com. And don’t forget the bakery with homemade bread like mom used to make.

The lodging at Windmill Ridge consists of fifteen individually themed cabins. Two sets of cabins are adjoining to accommodate families. You get a discounted rate for renting both sides.
Individually decorated with a personal touch, the cabins are cozy and comfortable. You’ll have modern toys too: a flat screen television, satellite TV, and wireless internet connection. (Hint: Jetted tube? Ask for the “Just Hitched” cabin!)

Hiking, petroglyphs and a swimming hole add to the options for daytime fun. The whole family will love this nearby retreat!
