Letter From The Editor

Let’s get right to it: last month’s cover. I have fielded several phone calls and emails a day all month from people upset by the cover, featuring a lovely bride in a short sleeve dress.

We apologize for running a photo where the sleeve appeared too short to be appropriate.

All of us who looked at it saw it as a cap sleeve. In fact, as you can see from a different photo of the same bride, it is. More to the point, this beautiful, temple-worthy bride was married in the Newport Beach Temple, in this dress.
Bride 307

Still, to any who were offended, we apologize for our mistake and ask for forgiveness.
However, the complaints have given me pause. There were some extremely un-Christ-like comments directed our way, which is ironic since they were coming from “good members of the Church.”

This magazine is produced by three stay-at-home LDS mothers (with contributions from two talented husbands) who are trying to do a service for the LDS community in between mothering our combined total of fourteen children, serving in church callings and running busy lives. We are faithful, good women doing what we can to further the Lord’s kingdom.
We’re not perfect.

This issue focuses on Christ-like love. This is the standard for members of the Lord’s church. It is how we should treat one another, even (or especially) fellow saints who make mistakes. We can assume the good and doubt the bad about each other. We can be sensitive to each other’s feelings before we offer up blistering condemnations in the name of righteousness.

Living with Christ-like love is a kinder, gentler way to live.

To the thousands who looked at the cover and saw a pretty girl with pretty flowers, thank you. To the thousands who noticed her sleeve and assumed that surely it must have been a mistake, bless you for your faith. And to those few of you who were quick to offer your condemnation, we hope you are as quick to observe all the good things we have commended to our readers over the years as you were to point out our error.

All the best,
