Spring is my favorite season. I love the whole process of rebirth in nature. It seems a fitting time to remember the death and resurrection of the Savior. One of the most poignant remembrances of that truth was a story I read in a magazine long ago.
The husband told the story of his wife, a lifelong gardener. She always took great care to ensure a yard full of beautiful flowers every spring. One fall, as she suffered from a terminal illness, she faithfully planted her spring bulbs, knowing that she would not live to see them bloom. Her husband commented that it was her silent testimony of the resurrection.
Indeed, the resurrection is real. Just as the earth sends forth new shoots and leaves and flowers from what appears to be dead, our Savior did indeed rise from the dead. Through His miraculous gift to us, so will we. No wonder faithful souls through the ages have thought to sing praises to Him.
On a more immediate scale, our lives can be made new. Our hearts can be changed.
The silent wounds deep in our souls can heal. We can be born again through the majesty and power of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Recently I have come to see, in a powerful way, how much the Lord longs after us. He loves us perfectly and completely, and gives us a standing offer of strength, comfort, answers, and peace. Once we open our eyes to that great truth, our lives can become joyful. Immediately. Completely. Even in severe trials. We just have to accept His offer.
I pray that we will.
All the best,
