Letter From The Editor

I was so touched by last month’s general conference.

In addition to wonderful addresses, we saw the great principle of succession displayed. Elder Eyring and Elder Cook will serve honorably and with distinction.

The most touching moment of the weekend, though, was Elder Wirthlin’s talk. His message was on the qualities that define members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Just a few minutes into his address, he began to shake. It looked as if he might be in real trouble. As he got to the part in his talk about having charity, the love of God, Elder Nelson quietly rose and stood behind him, steadying him so that he could continue speaking.

That quiet demonstration of charity was such a perfect lesson. We all need to both give and receive charity, whether our trials come from old age, or the age-old problems of mortality. My resolve to be a better person was strengthened.

The Church is true. And I hope our efforts through Desert Saints Magazine to inform, uplift and entertain the members and friends of this church are some small contribution to your lives. We have another great issue, with great examples of service and love. Enjoy!

All the best,
