Ardeth Kapp has captured the joy, anticipation, and the gift of Christmastime in her new book, The Joy of Believing (Deseret Book, Hardcover, $14.95).
Inspired by an innocent question from a little girl to her mother, “Mom, is it okay if I believe just one more year?” Kapp pondered what it would mean to believe—if just for one more year. The result of her ponderings are captured in true stories in the book.
Kapp, who still believes in Santa Claus, describes the increased joy that will come by believing in Christ himself. Consider, Kapp asks, a missionary’s vision of a white Christmas. “Can you see [your investigator]. . .dressed in white, ready to enter the waters of baptism together? Can you feel the joy of Christmas in the greatest gift ever given?”
Kapp describes the yearning most feel to understand the significance of Christ’s birth.
“Yes, Kapp says, “there is joy in believing in Santa Claus—but how much more in believing in Jesus Christ.” She explains the importance of taking the Savior into each individual’s life, heart, and soul—and that by doing so, the Christmas spirit will always be in abundance.
The Joy of Believing is filled with faith-inspiring stories and illustrations that remind parents and loved ones about the joy that can be found in believing in Christ. The Joy of Believing is available at Deseret Book, deseretbook.com, and wherever good books are sold.
