Cover Story

LAS VEGAS, NV – The Las Vegas Nevada South Stake hosted an open house on Saturday, Nov. 10, for its new stake center located in the growing southwest area of Las Vegas. Approximately 500 people visited the new church building and stations set up in rooms displaying The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints auxiliary programs.

Children singing “I Am a Child of God” and other primary songs greeted people touring the primary room. Quilts made for a breast cancer service project adorned the Relief Society section, while posters of Young Women value projects could be seen in another area.
Other auxiliaries such as Seminary, Sunday School, Young Men and Boy Scouts of America had displays as well. Missionaries and family history consultants were on hand to pass out information from their stations.

The dedication of the stake center took place the following day, Nov. 11, with Bryan A. Lowe, president of the Las Vegas Nevada South Stake, offering the dedicatory prayer under the direction of the area authority. The Las Vegas Nevada South Stake is comprised of nine wards, four of which are located in Pahrump, Nevada.
