Book Review

The Book of Mormon Reference Companion (Deseret Book, Hardcover, $49.95) is the culmination of an astonishing project that includes the work of 111 respected scholars and has hundreds and hundreds of thorough entries on topics any student of the Book of Mormon needs. It brings together more than 900 entries addressing 1500 Book of Mormon topics, including people, places, words phrases, and doctrines.

The book discusses people, places, doctrines, definitions of terms, and other items of interest such as a four-page chart showing Hebraisms in the Book of Mormon. There are outlines of each of the books in the Book of Mormon, and a full discussion of each of the Isaiah chapters.

In addition, the book boasts color photographs and illustrations throughout. For example, Jacob’s allegory of the olive tree includes photographs of several different olive trees, some with grafted branches. Maps, illustrations, photographs, pictures, outlines, and charts are combined with informative articles to increase understanding by the Book of Mormon student.
