Engagement photos are a tradition for most couples.
The photos are typically used as part of the wedding announcement. Once upon a time, these were formal portraits done in a studio. With society getting more and more casual,
many couples now opt for more casual photos.

These casual photos are often done outdoors, in casual clothes. They showcase more of a couple’s personality. They are fun and different. They complement the more casual wedding receptions and changing wedding traditions.
Photographer Lynette Hagel has taken great engagement photos in a wide variety of settings. A recent client came in and wanted something different: a beautiful outdoor setting, but a formal pose in dress clothes. The man said he wanted to dress up for the photos because they were to announce a temple wedding. He felt, after reflection, that great care should be taken to preserve the sacred nature of everything associated with the temple.
Informal portraits done by a photographer are a great treasure and a fun way to record a time in your lives, but keep in mind the respect that is associated with a temple wedding and be mindful of what would be appropriate in that context.
