Superstition vs. Stress

Business Spotlight

bridal van 208 The old wives tale goes that it’s bad luck for the groom to see the bride in her wedding dress prior to the wedding ceremony. Where this bit of superstition came from, nobody knows. Yet it persists.

On the other hand, your wedding day is an extremely busy day, and that can make it stressful. When couples are worried about family members, time and other commitments, that stress shows through in their photos. They don’t look relaxed and joyful, they look—stressed.

The bride and groom need to enjoy their day, and part of that is photos. One solution is throwing superstitions and stress (at least the photography part) to the wind. The bride and groom can take photos a few days before the wedding, or on their wedding day, but before the ceremony.

Removing the time crunch allows the bride and groom to be more relaxed and even playful, which is captured in wonderful photos. Mikel Conrad, of Mikel’s Fine Art Photography, says this is his favorite way to do bridal portraits. This allows him to spend more than an hour with the couple, and couples who have done this are thrilled with the photos that result from throwing superstition to the wind.
