President Thomas S. Monson On The Lord’s Errand

First Pres 308On any given day at a handful of nursing homes in Salt Lake City a buoyant yet distinguished gentleman can be seen talking, laughing and listening to the residents. Despite his heavy load of religious assignments, Thomas S. Monson, the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is the self-appointed chaplain for these facilities.

A New Monkey Business

monkeys 308By Dave Ellis

How many times have you said, “Why can’t I find a reliable monkey hair replacement system?” Now I’m not talking about replacing hair on a monkey, because that’s just crazy. I’m talking about wearing a little monkey on your head to cover a bald spot. I actually saw a guy doing this one day. I’m not sure he was trying to cover his bald spot but it sure did distract the eye. His pants could have been on fire and I wouldn’t have noticed because I was watching a monkey crawl around his head.

Remembering President Gordon B. Hinckley

Hinckley Funeral 308Perhaps the best way to remember President Hinckley is to let him speak for himself. Here is the testimony he gave April 1, 2006, at the Sunday morning session of the 176th Annual World General Conference:

“I hope that all of you will remember that on this Sabbath day you heard me bear my witness that this is God’s holy work. The vision given the Prophet Joseph in the grove of Palmyra was not an imaginary thing. It was real. It occurred in the broad light of day. Both the Father and the Son spoke to the boy. He saw Them standing in the air above him. He heard Their voices.
He gave heed to Their instruction.

10 Easy Ways Kids Can Go Green

Girl in Tall Grass 308.by Annette Lyon

Kids can’t buy energy-saving appliances, wrap their water heater in an insulating blanket, or change the furnace filters. So how can they too be part of the efforts to “go green”?

Even small children can take steps to save resources. Try incorporating some of the following ideas into your family’s lifestyle. Your children may well rise to the “green” challenge—and even pass off some Cub Scout or Activity Day requirements along the way.

Seeking Christ At Easter

Looking Out of Tomb 308by Annette Lyon

I stood inside a huge cathedral in Jerusalem that, by most Christians, is revered to be built upon the burial place of the Savior of the world. The wing I stood in felt like a vast, empty cavern. It was built of gray stone. The light was dim, and the room felt cool, making goose bumps stand up on my arms.

If You Love Them, Buy Them Food

Pointer Family 308Dan and Shannon Pointer have always been the family that people go to for food storage advice. As long-time food storage and healthy-living enthusiasts, the Pointers saw too many friends and acquaintances without food storage, despite the knowledge that they should have it. They finally figured they could help more people if they just opened a business and sold preparedness items themselves.

Three years after Joseph Smith’s First Vision, the young Prophet, now 17 years of age, “prayed earnestly for direction and for forgiveness of his youthful ‘sins and follies’ (Joseph Smith—History 1:29). In answer to his prayer, a heavenly messenger named Moroni appeared.
