So much has changed in the last month! President Hinckley passed away after our February issue was already printed, and now that time seems like a world away.
Trying to encapsulate the life of a man like President Hinckley in a few words seems almost impossible. So many fitting tributes have been given. He was a great man. He was the Lord’s prophet. How we loved him! How we will miss his optimism, his smile, his testimony, his humor.
I well remember when he visited Las Vegas just before he became President of the Church. I also remember the testimony of his calling that burned within me during the solemn assembly when he became the prophet, and in all the years since.
Now, President Monson, another well-beloved man who has been carefully prepared by the Lord, will take the reins of the Lord’s church. He will lead us boldly on, through the adversity that has been promised since Old Testament times, which our leaders have warned us of, and which is coming to pass day to day.
His strength, his wisdom, and the assistance of his two counselors, Elder Eyring and Elder Uctdorf, will lead the Lord’s faithful ever onward to a brighter day. We must not fear the world, but we must hold to the Iron Rod, which will lead us to the still waters and promised peace of our Savior’s rest.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. The God of Heaven is its head. The Lord will keep all of His promises, and the promises of every prophet will yet come to pass.
We have His word on it!
All the best,
