Jon Bunker has been called as president of the Santa Rosa, California Spanish-speaking mission by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Santa Rosa mission extends from the Pacific Ocean on the west almost to Sacramento on the east, and goes from Santa Rosa in the south, north to the Oregon border. There are about 180 missionaries. The Bunkers report to the MTC in Provo at the end of June for a three-day seminar, then report to their mission by July 1.

President Bunker will have to learn Spanish. They are being tutored by a wonderful returned missionary who works at the MTC in both Spanish and Preach My Gospel. It has helped enormously as they prepare to serve as missionaries.

“We are excited, humbled, afraid, and ready for the challenge,” Brother Bunker says. Their mission is a fairly liberal environment, so the “work is challenging.
But there are established stakes, and we are confident that the Lord will bless the effort.” He adds, “we are grateful and thankful for the opportunity to serve, and looking forward to the adventure: it definitely will be one!”
