Danielle and her mom. I love you Mom!
As we approach yet another season of mother appreciation, I feel to rejoice in what the Lord has done for women. Whether or not we bear children in this life, our calling, our nature, is to mother Father in Heaven’s children. Ours is the job to bear up souls, to love, to listen, to lead, to guide. (See Sheri Dew, “Are We Not All Mothers?,” available at lds.org).
In these unprecedented days, never has there been more of an opportunity to share our light, and Father’s love, with those around us. Indeed, as the world darkens, righteous women will shine as beacons to those who are seeking truth, because their hope, their faith and their testimonies will stand in such stark contrast to everything else offered by the world.
In the recent general Young Women’s meeting, President Monson spoke of Esther, who was born “for such a time as this.” I firmly believe today’s righteous women were born “for such a time as this.” We will be called on to do extraordinary things.
In the meantime, go tell all the mothers in your life how much you appreciate their influence in your life. Write down what you love about them and why. Your words may become a treasure to them.
All the best,
