The city of Las Vegas invites everyone to enjoy a new series of family live theatre performances at the Historic Fifth Street School. The series, designed with young audiences in mind, will premiere with “The David Chicken Live Show Spectacular” on Thursday, July 9, with performances at 2 and 7 p.m., in the restored building’s auditorium.
David Chicken promotes good health and fitness through fun music that inspires creativity, exercise and learning. He has recorded three CDs of catchy original music popular with parents and children, as well as an Emmy Award-winning DVD, “The Adventures of David Chicken.” Described as “downright hilarious” by Nick Jr. Magazine, this performer brings energy and excitement to his interactive performances.
On July 23, Tears of Joy Theatre will perform the puppet show “Stellaluna” at 2 and 7 p.m. Adapted from the popular book by Janell Cannon, “Stellaluna” is the story of a baby fruit bat that falls into a bird’s nest. She tries to adapt to her new home, but struggles to fit in with others. The message of self-acceptance and celebrating diversity is warm and clear.
Tickets are priced at $3 each or $10 for four. Children less than 2 years old will be admitted without charge when accompanied by a supervising adult. Tickets may be purchased online at www.artslasvegas.org or at the door. The facility is located at 401 S.
Fourth St., at the corner of Fourth and Clark streets in downtown Las Vegas. Parking is available in the adjacent lot and on the surrounding streets.
