Rebecca Brimhall to Solo in “The Nutcracker”
It’s not hard to notice that Rebecca Brimhall is passionate about her dancing – after all, she has been doing it most of her life. Daily ballet class; hours of rehearsals; a labor of love doesn’t even begin to describe the hours of dedication required to make a life of dance work. And while it is easy to admire her for her devotion, she must also be respected for something else extraordinary – her faith.
Because without faith, how would the steadfast commitment required for dancing even be possible?
Born in Manassas, VA, Rebecca’s family moved to Las Vegas in 1999. Not only did she leave her hometown, but she left the familiarity of her dance training at the Northern Virginia Dance Academy.
And though she did spend a summer training at the famed Kirov Academy of Ballet, it is suffice it to say that Rebecca’s career really began in Las Vegas, at Nevada Ballet Theatre.
A student at Centennial High School, she joined the Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre in 1999, the professional company in 2002 and was promoted to “Soloist” in 2005. Now with almost 30 roles behind her, she has cultivated a dedicated fan base in Las Vegas and beyond.
Currently an employee at Tower Jewels, where she is the assistant to the General Sales Manager, Rebecca has spent the last couple of years studying to be a Graduate Gemologist and will graduate in six months.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she understands that having a strong familial support system is the key to achieving one’s goals in life. Though she misses her Monday family night with her parents and siblings who now live in Salt Lake City, she tries to adhere to those same traditions through her singles ward here in Las Vegas.
She admits that “dancing” in a place like Vegas can be a challenging misconception. But Rebecca makes it clear that she is completely secure with her beliefs, even among the “glitz and glamour” of the entertainment capital of the world.
Catch Rebecca performing in Nevada Ballet Theatre’s annual holiday favorite, The Nutcracker, an-all new production to Las Vegas at the Paris Theatre. Tickets can be obtained by calling the Paris box office at (702) 946-4567 or online at www.nevadaballet.com.
