Book Review

Mormon Messages 0211
With more than 16 million views online, Mormon Messages are an Internet sensation. Now, 20 of the LDS Church’s popular inspirational videos are available on DVD.

Mormon Messages are short video segments produced by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints posted to YouTube and viewed by millions. Each message contains the Church’s basic beliefs, inspiring stories and messages of hope. The videos are a minute-and-a-half to eight-and-a-half minutes long.

With the new DVD, Mormon Messages, these inspiring videos will enhance any setting, from family night to missionary moments to personal study. Learn from the examples of others as you put the gospel in context with these real-life applications of eternal principles.

The DVD includes seasonal-specific messages, like “The Christmas Spirit,” “An Apostle’s Easter Thoughts on Christ” by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and “In the Spirit of Thanksgiving,” which features Elder Dallin H. Oaks along with interviews of people on the streets of New York.

“My New Life,” highlights Stephanie Nielson, survivor of a near-fatal plane crash that burned nearly 83 percent of her body, and tells her story of a beautiful life centered on faith in Jesus Christ and love of family. “I am grateful for this trial. It is a blessing, even though it’s hard, and it’s challenging, and it will be for a while,” Nielson says in the video, which has had more than 612,000 page views to date.

“Finding Hope” is about a 9/11 survivor and his journey from tragedy and trauma to hope, healing, and renewal through Jesus Christ. In “Forgiveness: My Burden Was Made Light,” forgiveness and the power of Jesus Christ enable a man to survive losing his wife and several children in a car accident—and allow the offending driver to begin rebuilding his own life.

The first Mormon Messages were released online in August 2008. Since then, the Church has released a new video online every two weeks.

The DVD can be watched in English, Spanish or with subtitles.
Mormon Messages on DVD is $9.98 and is now available at Deseret Book, DeseretBook.com, and other retailers.
