Since October 2001, Desert Saints Magazine has published monthly magazines for the members and friends of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Southern Nevada. Our goal has been to inform, uplift, and entertain our readers.
In the one hundred twenty five issues we have printed and posted online, we have covered topics from simplifying our lives to family history, from desert gardening to the words of our prophets.
We have highlighted interesting Latter-day Saints in our community and interesting events to attend. We have promoted good books and music and good humanitarian causes. Our writers have come from within our valley and across the country. Many of them are best-selling authors with current books in publication.
In short, we have done everything we can do to create a beautiful, uplifting magazine that our readers enjoy. We have tried to make Desert Saints an asset to our community. And that doesn’t come cheap. As a free publication, our operating expenses come from ad revenues. This has to cover our production costs as well as the cost to mail the magazine.
You may have noticed that our issues have been getting thinner and thinner. Our advertisers, like everyone else, have been hard hit by the poor Las Vegas economy. Effective immediately, we are discontinuing our mailed subscriptions, but we are adding over 60 new distribution locations. Please call us at 702-839-5399 if you haven’t seen an issue at some place you regularly attend.
As it is, Desert Saints needs your help. If you have enjoyed our content, had your Eagle Scout’s or missionary’s achievements celebrated, been helped by a book you found through our magazine, or just would like to help, please donate now. Are we worth the price of a nice dinner- $20? Or the cost of a movie ticket and some popcorn- $15? How about the cost of some new music or a downloaded book- $10? Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Our advertisers need your support as well. Most of them are LDS-owned businesses. They offer products and services the LDS community needs and uses. Please thank them for bringing our magazine to you by patronizing their businesses. Tell them you saw their ad in Desert Saints, and thank them for their support. Their businesses could receive a significant boost if the LDS community would support them.
