The theme for this month is temples. We are so blessed to have a temple in our midst here in the Las Vegas valley. It wasn’t too long ago when Latter-Day Saints had to drive to St. George if they wanted to partake in the sacred ordinances and blessings of the temple.
This past week, the Elkhorn Springs Stake participated in a Stake Temple Day where Saints were encouraged to sacrifice as much time as possible on this day to gather and perform sacred work for people who did not have the opportunity in this life to receive these blessings and ordinances.
One temple worker commented that they are so appreciative of the effort, sacrifice and time given by the Saints on this day, and the temple workers look forward to and are excited about the day as the temple fills up and is very busy throughout the day. They would love to see all the stakes in the valley take advantage of this opportunity and receive all the blessings that go along with a day of sacrifice in the temple.
The Elkhorn Springs Stake president, in a recent talk, promised that if the Saints in the Elkhorn Springs Stake did all they could to sacrifice all the time and energy they could on that day, that God would answer their individual prayers, and give them the personal revelation that they seek to benefit themselves and their family. Pretty powerful stuff.
It is our hope that the Saints of the Las Vegas valley set aside some time on their own and schedule their own “temple day” of sacrifice, where they give as much time and energy throughout the day as they can possibly give, and in the end, provide much needed blessings from God to others and to themselves. Our Heavenly Father is ready to bless his children, and he has constructed temples so they can realize these blessings.
