2009 Editorial Calendar

Would you like to be published in Desert Saints Magazine? We want to hear from you!

If you want to contribute, we have three formats:

1) Send us your tip, hint, or uplifting experience, 100-200 words.

Give us a quick tip or hint about one of the topics listed below. Let us know how it worked for you. If we print your submission we will pay you $10!

-OR-

2) Tell us about a favorite person who has made your day: a family member, ward member, or kind neighbor. Let us know what they did and why it made a difference. Please include a high resolution .jpg photo if possible. If we print your submission we will pay you $25!

-OR-

3) Send us your article on one of the topics for an upcoming issue, 700-800 words. If we print your submission, we will pay you $75.

Submission guidelines: All submissions must be sent by email to Editor@DesertSaintsMagazine.com. Attach documents to the email in a word processing program. Note in the subject line which month the submission is for. Please include your name, address, ward and stake.

Jan: Choosing the Good Fight (articles due by December 5, 2009)

Feb: Bridal Issue- Love Stories, Engagement/Wedding Stories (articles due by January 5, 2009)
Ideas- How Did/Does Your Sweetheart help you become the person you want to be? Building a celestial relationship.

March: Simplify Your Life (articles due by February 5, 2009)
Ideas- What does is really mean to “unencumber you life,” as we have been counseled? Magnifying essentials, getting rid of the rest.

April: Strengthening Your Testimony (articles due by March 5, 2009)
Ideas- I have gained a testimony of …; Divine tutoring; advanced discipleship.

May: To the Women in My Life (articles due by April 5, 2009)
Ideas- Mothers, wives, sisters, aunts, grandmothers- how do they bless your life? What is the most important thing you’ve learned from them? What do you most want to emulate?

June: To the Men in my Life (articles due by May 5, 2009)
Ideas- Fathers, husbands, brothers, uncles, grandfathers- how do they bless your life? What is the most important thing you’ve learned from them? What do you most want to emulate?

July: Joy in the Journey- Finding Hope and Joy Regardless of Circumstances (articles due by June 5, 2009)
Ideas- Finding joy in prayer; serving despite your own needs; looking for tender mercies.

August: Missionary Experiences/ Being a Better Missionary (articles due by July 5, 2009)
Ideas- Gathering the Righteous; When Adversity Opens Hearts; Treasuring the Word of God

September: Honoring the Priesthood (articles due by August 5, 2009)
Ideas- Living by the Spirit; understanding the structure of Church organizations and using them properly; sustaining leaders; magnifying callings as a way to glorify the Lord

October: Anniversary Issue/ The Temple (articles due by September 5, 2009)
Ideas- Faith-promoting family history experiences; youth and first-time temple blessings; maturing in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

November: Gratitude (articles due by October 5, 2009)
Ideas- What has the Lord brought you through? Experiencing testimony growth from unexpected sources; I never thought I’d be grateful for… but I am now because…

December: Remember the Savior/ Gifts of Love (articles due by November 5, 2009)
Ideas- Are you a “wise man?” The gift of a broken heart and contrite spirit; not believing in the Savior, but believing the Savior.
