One of President Hinckley’s favorite metaphors regarding the gospel and the Church was “The stone cut out of the mountain without hands which would roll forth and fill the whole earth, as Daniel saw in vision.” In fact, “The Stone Cut Out of the Mountain” was the title of his last general conference address before he passed on to the ages.

Last summer while on vacation, my cell phone rang: it was the Ensign. As I tried to escape the sounds of clamoring children, the sweet lady on the other end of the phone explained the purpose of her call. She had an article, written by Krista Oakes, that had been published in Desert Saints Magazine, which the Ensign wanted to print as well. (We ran it in the March 2010 issue with the title, “The Errand of Angels is Given to Women.”)

Last month, my husband and I joined in the celebration as our oldest nephew (DSM Publisher Rusty and Graphic Artist DaLea’s son Daniel) married his perfect match, Mallory Kurtz, in the Las Vegas Temple. I was seated across the room from Daniel’s grandmother, the lovely Marie Lauritzen. The sweetest memory of that day for me was watching her joy at witnessing her grandson’s temple wedding.
