Ray Rawson has been appointed as a university regent for UNLV by Governor Jim Gibbons. He will be filling the last two years of a term vacated by another regent. Brother Rawson is excited to serve as the District 5 regent because it is almost the same area covered by the state senate seat he used to occupy. He is pleased with the “chance to finish up things I worked on before,” he says.

Mar 2009 Issue

Dr. William F. Harvey has been appointed to the Nevada State Board of Optometry by Governor Jim Gibbons. Dr. Harvey will serve for a three-year term. The Nevada State Board of Optometry is “the public’s protection for the optometry field,” says Dr. Harvey. They control the licensing of optometrists in the state, issue new licenses, discipline, revoke licenses and suggest changes in laws related to their field. The board consists of three optometrists, and attorney and an executive director.
